Term 2 Week 5

This week we started our next transdisciplinary theme, Where We Are in Time and Place. We will be exploring our neighborhood, including the students neighborhoods here in Japan and abroad. We will also be exploring maps. We started by looking at Google Earth to get an idea for what maps look like. Then we climbed up a ladder to help us work together to draw a map of Pre-K.

It was nice out Wednesday and we were able to go to the park with Kindergarten.

We explored shapes through painting or drawing.

Friday was a busy day, with Sports Day practice, photos, then PE, all before lunch!

After lunch we explored shapes for Numeracy day. We made ovals for a rainbow paper chain, decorated circles for our Sports Day medals, and played with tangrams and magna shapes.

Please remember to send your child's shoes and park cap next Monday.

Term 2 Week 4

Hello Pre-K! We had a great week!

Everyone is really enjoying our dress up center. If you have any old clothes or fun fabric that you wouldn't mind donating to the class, we would appreciate some new clothes.

Some days we played in the playroom if it was too hot or rainy.

Our Super Simple Draw this week was a princess.

We practiced our obstacle course and paraballoon activities for Sports Day.

We did a fun bubble painting activity.

We started a weekly focus wall. Our focus this week was Aa, red, square, 5, summer, cloudy, and the sight words a, and, the.

It was nice a couple of days and we were able to play at the park. Looking forward to more days like this ahead.

We finished our Sharing the Planet theme and will be starting Where We Are in Time and Place next week. To kick things off, please help your child take pictures around your neighborhood. It can be anything they find interesting, buildings, street signs, the road, the playground. If possible, let them take the picture themselves. Then send me up to 5 digital pictures on Wednesday.

Hello Pre-K!

Show and Tell this week focused on trips we have taken. Students brought in pictures or items related to trips.

We made butterflies using symmetry painting, cutting, and gluing.

We would like to do another book share. We will invite children to bring books on a particular week.

Next week, Julia, Bryan, Liora, Bing Chen, and Leticia can bring a book to share. We will send books home on Friday.
