Term 2 Week `14

Hello Pre-K! We had a busy week as usual.

Exploring rhythm with our instruments, taking turns leading.

We had an earthquake drill. Pre-K did great!

We worked together to build a neighborhood, which we kind of agreed was a city. On Monday we will set up the buildings in the playroom and explore our lines of inquiry through dramatic play.

The Enishi park was blocked on Thursday, so we went to the park a little north of the school with Kindergarten. This park has a Fuji slide and a spinning globe. Pre-K really loved this park, so we are going to try to go once or twice a week for the rest of the year.

Our theme for Science Day was flight. We watched a bottle rocket demonstration, then had an airplane throwing contest. Many of the children wanted another chance to make an airplane at home and practice their throwing techniques, so we will do it again next week. Please send an airplane or two in on Monday.

We sent their shoes home today. Please wash them and check their size. If your child did not have a shoe bag, please send a cloth shoe bag next week. We will likely be sending the shoes home more often during the winter to help keep our classroom healthier.

Have a great weekend and see you Monday!
Ms. Darby and Ms. Maki

Term 2 Week 13

Started the week with some Super Simple Draw. This is so good for practice following instructions and improving fine motor control, which will help a lot when they start writing more.

Center time this week included making acorn puppets with Ms. Maki.

Field trip to Aichi Kenko no Mori!

We played a sight word recognition game.

We set up a mall in the classroom, with a restaurant, an ice cream shop, and a clothing store. This was a fun way to explore some of the roles people play in our neighborhoods.

There's no school Monday, so we will see you Tuesday. Please remember to send their caps in. And if you have one of the Pre-K caps, please wash and return that as well.

Friday is Science Day. Our theme this year is flight. We will be asking the children to bring in two paper airplanes, and we will have a contest to see whose plane flies the furthest. Please help them make at least two paper airplanes and send them in by Friday. Please remember to write their name on the planes in a way that is easy to see.

Thank you to the parents who already sent in boxes. If you have any boxes please send them in. About shoe box size is perfect. Thank you again!

Enjoy your long weekend! See you Tuesday!
Ms. Darby and Ms. Maki
