Term 3 Week 8

Hello Pre-K! Another great week, even if it was a little shorter.

Banana Oni has turned into a whole class game during park time.

Center time this week included wheels, addition and subtraction with lego people, little house, playdough shapes, a spelling game, UNO, prepositions, magnet shapes and puppets, sand, and alphabet Unifix challenge cards.

The students finished making their puzzle pieces showing things they liked.

If you have not sent a vest and tie in yet, please send it by Monday.

Have a great weekend!
See you Monday!

Term 3 Week 6 and 7

Hello Pre-K! I'm sorry I was unable to post last week. I could not access my photos for some reason. Hopefully it doesn't happen again. Here are some highlights from the last two weeks.

Rhyming concentration in Language Arts.

Center time centers included

Puzzles

Creating a flip book about our bodies

Dramatic play with "Little House"

Marbles

Exploring 3-D shapes

Discussing our human body system books

Name writing practice

Legos

Trains

Exploring our shared likes and dislikes

We are working on decoding and spelling CVC words (and some of our sight words)

We made friendships flowers, writing our names on flower petals and sharing them with each other

We drew portraits of each other.

And we filled out a book "All About Me"

For Year End Performance, we would like all the children to wear a vest and a tie. We are hoping that they can borrow a tie from papa, but please let us know if that is an issue.

For the vest, we have found a few simple patterns for making a vest from felt or fabric. It is also okay to buy one if you would prefer.

https://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Vest

Any color is okay, and if your child would like to add some decorations to it as well that is fine. But plain is also okay. Please let us know if you have any trouble.

I would like to have all the vests at the school no later than February 26th.

For the rest of their outfit, they can wear anything they would like, as long as they can dance and walk safely up and down stairs in it. The stairs are quite steep, so no long skirts or dresses please, but shorter ones would be fine. If it is cold that day, please dress your child warmly as the gym can be quite cold.

Thank you to all the children for another great couple of weeks. This class is truly fantastic and so much fun!

There is no school this Tuesday, February 23rd. But we will see you Monday!
Have a great weekend!

Term 3 Week 5

Hello Pre-K!

This week's center time included phonics, rhyming, UNO, a book center, tangrams, and playing with the little house.

We also did an art center where they made their names with yarn, painted, did origami, and made paper dolls.

On Setsubun we decided to make oni masks...

And then surprise Kindergarten as they were playing in the playroom!

Kindergarten came to get us when it was our turn in the playroom!

They made tissue paper and handprint collages.

We sent inside shoes home. Please wash them and check them for size.

There is no school next Thursday or Friday. Friday is our Student Led Conference. If you would like to come, you must sign up in advance as everyone has assigned 15 minutes spots, and we want to minimize our exposure.

If you would like a Parent Teacher Conference to discuss your child's development or any concerns about moving on to Kindergarten, please contact the front desk and we can arrange a PTC after school one day in the coming weeks. We will not have an opportunity to talk during the Student Led Conference.

We will be sending you more information about costumes for Year End Performance next week. But we will be asking everyone to wear a vest (we will send a pattern to make one out of felt) and a necktie or bowtie. We are hoping the children can just borrow a tie from their papa. Please let us know if this will be a difficulty for you.

Have a great weekend! See you Monday!
