Term 3 Week 1

Welcome to Term 3 of Pre-K! We hope everyone had a great winter break. We're looking forward to another great and busy term. We're already getting ready for our Year End Performance. The children are choosing everything we do. I hope we get to do it in person this year!

We will be going outside if it's over 5 degrees. Please make sure your child has an appropriate coat. Please also make sure that coats, hats, scarfs, and shoes have your child's name in a place that is easy to see.

It snowed while we were outside Tuesday. But it was also raining a little, so we came back inside.

We will continue to do Super Simple Draw regularly to help strengthen their wrists and hands and improve their fine motor skill. This will actually help them when they start writing more next year and in Grade 1.

In PE we warm up with jumping jacks or some animal races and then we work on some flexibility. We also had a relay race, and we are working on not giving up during the race, even if we think we might lose. This is a difficult skill for this age, but an important one that we will keep working on.

We did not get any pictures of our teacher center time this week. We are increasing the number of rotations each day, as the children are much faster with transitions. This will allow us to spend more time working on reading and math skills.

Friday January 29th is our Japanese Culture Day. Due to COVID, it will be more low key this year, but we are planning a lot of fun activities for Pre-K. On that day, your child may come wearing Japanese or Japanese inspired clothing, such as a yukata, jinbei, or ninja costume (no weapons as always). Please keep in mind they need to be able to go to the toilet by themselves. We will not be playing outside that day.

Monday January 11th is a holiday, so we will see you Tuesday. Have a great long weekend!
