Term 1 Week 9

Rainy season has started. That means we will be spending a lot of our "park" time in the playroom. The playroom offers different physical challenges, such as crawling through tunnels, playing with balls, and making up some games. We will continue to go to the park when the weather allows. And we will have PE every Friday.

This week we continued our themes for Sharing the Planet and How We Express Ourselves. We did a seed sorting activity to look at different foods we eat and make connections with what we've already learned about how plants grow. We also were able to examine a spider that I caught in the classroom, and talk about the difference between spiders and bugs.

We talked some more about what living things need to survive, and a big one is water. We talked a little bit about the water cycle and painted and cut out clouds to decorate our ceiling.

We also starting working on a super secret craft that you will see in a few weeks!

We began our teacher center time rotation. This is where the children will rotate through activities chosen by the teachers, including two activities done with a teacher. This allows us to work with the children on specific skills and concepts in small groups. Most of their focused language and math instruction will occur during these teacher center times. It is more structured than they are used to, but they are doing great so far.

See you next week!
