Term 1 Week 11

This week we painted the sun! We previously painted clouds and hung them on the ceiling. Now we have painted a sunny corner over the library. We will be filling the ceiling with rain, storms, and snow, followed by a rainbow paper chain.

It is getting pretty hot. We still try to get the class outside if it's not raining. But we watch the children and temperature carefully, so a couple of times we had to cut park time a little short. The children know our first rule is Be Safe, so hopefully they understand when we have to leave the park early.

We introduced a few new center time activities. We did a watercolor center (Thank you to the parents who were able to find the watercolor palettes). We don't give the children instructions other than paint something. It is important that they explore using their imaginations and few restrictions.

We also worked more on number theory, and showed them how to use some of our wood math centers.

We also worked on their understanding of how letters form words through our magnet letters and word card center.

And we introduced a popsicle stick shape center.

We read the book, "The Cow Who Went Oink" several times last week. This week, we worked on our sequencing and comprehension skills by putting pages from the book in the right order.

The children also made faces using sticks, leaves, and flowers from outside.

And we had a visit from a special guest, Ms. Karly's snake!

Next week will be show and tell week. Every child will have a chance to bring something from home to share with the class. Please let your child choose something that does not break easily, is not too valuable, and that they will enjoy talking about. Please follow the schedule below so that all children have an opportunity to share.
